When I wrote about our attic renovation, I quickly named the new staircase but I really think it deserves two lines of its own 😊.

When we bought the house, the attic was an unused room, it was a garret, a closet with not exactly an easy access. The staircase leading to the floor was an old wooden staircase, practically a ladder, very steep and far from comfortable.
When we started working on the renovation of the attic, we decided to modify the staircase to make it more functional, we added steps, changed the slope and decided to make it in cherry wood, iron and glass. Drawn, designed, made by us (dad and uncle) I find it wonderful!
Using glass for the risers we have also given more light to the landing of the bedroom which now seems much larger, the shape of the staircase itself has given more air to the staircase below (now we have to design a restyling for her too 😉 …).

And what about the old staircase are you asking? Well, we managed to transform it into an unique bookshelf and use it to create two areas in the room, a guest bedroom and an hobby room.

Quando vi ho parlato dei lavori di sistemazione della nostra mansarda ho nominato velocemente anche la scala; credo però che si merita due righe tutte sue 😊.
Quando abbiamo acquistato la casa la mansarda era una stanza non utilizzata, era un solaio, un ripostiglio dall’accesso non proprio semplice. La scala che portava al piano era una vecchia scala di legno, praticamente una scala a pioli, molto ripida e tutt’altro che comoda.
Quando abbiamo iniziato a lavorare alla mansarda abbiamo pensato di modificare la scala d’accesso per renderla più funzionale, abbiamo aggiunto gradini, modificato la pendenza e deciso di farla in legno di ciliegio, ferro e vetro. Disegnata, progettata, realizzata da noi (papà e zio) la trovo stupenda!
Lasciando le alzate in vetro abbiamo dato più luce anche al pianerottolo della camera che ora sembra molto più grande, inoltre la forma stessa dei gradini ha dato più aria alla scala sottostante (ora dobbiamo progettare un restyling anche per lei 😉 …).

Che fine ha fatto la vecchia scala, vi state chiedendo? E’ diventata parte integrante della mansarda 🙂
Abbiamo deciso di trasformarla in libreria e di usarla per separare la stanza in due aree distinte, camera degli ospiti da un lato e stanza hobby dall’altro..
