Today in Italy we celebrate the Epiphany, in our tradition during this night (from 5 to 6 January) the “Befana” comes and delivers gifts, specially candy, to good children. I found my gift in our garden under a nice pouring rain (yes I’m still a child) my 2021 diary delivered trough the new millennium Befana an Amazon courier..

I would loved to buy it from a stationery shop in one of the shopping walks we usually do during the Christmas holidays. Obviously this year we couldn’t make any so the diary arrived by courier. A beautiful diary, made in Italy, eco friendly, animated by many good intentions and with one of those beautiful family business stories behind it, if you like, you can find it here (Italian only).

But it is not about the agenda that I want to write, or at least not only, the beginning of the new year always leads to a review of the one just ended and so I found myself re-reading the first post of 2020 where I wrote about how quickly 2019 had passed and how many things, in the minds of many, remained undone despite the many done.
Re-read the list of activities I considered normal routine with today’s eyes, with what 2020 has meant for everyone, talk about plans and programs to be able to manage the amount of activities that we considered obvious .. How much this year has changed us..

I hope that some of the things we learn trough 2020 remain with us. Never take it for granted, always choose friends and people to spend time with, use time well creating memories.. Because after all memories keeps us together during this year. Memories of holidays and dinners, parties and ceremonies.. even school time or meetings. I personally have a great need to hug friends and family again. So yes, I admit it, this 2021 I asked for hugs.

Oggi portata della befana del nuovo millennio (un corriere Amazon) è planata nel nostro giardino, sotto una simpatica pioggia battente, la mia agenda 2021.
Avrei voluto comprarla in cartoleria in una delle passeggiate per negozi che solitamente facciamo durante le vacanze di Natale. Si, a quasi 40 anni per me le ferie invernali sono ancora le vacanze di Natale, e continueranno ad esserlo.. Ovviamente quest’anno durante le vacanze abbiamo girato ben poco, oserei dire che non abbiamo girato per niente, quindi anche l’agenda è arrivata tramite corriere. Una bellissima agenda, made in italy, eco friendly, animata da tanti buoni propositi e con dietro una di quelle belle storie di azienda familiare se vi va la trovate qui.

Ma non è dell’agenda che volevo scrivere, o almeno non solo, l’inizio del nuovo anno porta sempre ad una revisione di quello appena concluso e così mi sono ritrovata a rileggere il primo post del 2020 dove scrivevo di quanto velocemente fosse passato il 2019 e di quante cose, nel pensiero di molti, restavano non fatte nonostante le tante, molte, fatte. Rileggere l’elenco della attività considerate normale routine con gli occhi di oggi, con quello che il 2020 ha comportato per tutti, parlare di piani e programmi per riuscire a gestire la mole delle attività che consideravamo scontate.. Quanto si cambia.. Io spero che l’insegnamento del 2020 resti con noi, mai dare per scontato, scegliere le persone sempre, e usare bene il tempo, creare ricordi perché poi in fondo sono quelli a cui ci siamo appigliati tutti in questi mesi. Ricordi di vacanze e cene, feste e cerimonie, ci è sembrati tutto estrema mate bello, anche quello che prima ci pesava, anche la scuola o la messa della domenica. Io personalmente ho un gran bisogno di riabbracciare amici e parenti. Quindi si, lo ammetto, a questo 2021 ho chiesto abbracci 🙂
