Some posts ago I’ve told you about these lovely Toy Patterns I’ve found. Now is time to introduce you my striped bunny!I’ve done it as a present for the new son of a friend.

Some time ago I’ve done pillows with cherry seeds loving the results so, I’ve use the same tecnique here.

Seeds (in this case cherry and linen) keep warm or cold and they are great for little bruises, headaches or just as a ‘hotty things’ in winter.
You can warm them in the microwave for just a few minutes or put in the fridge-freezer for some time to make them cold. In this case I’ve add some lavander flowers as they help find calm and relax. 

What we need:
Fabric (I choose cotton in two different design), basic sewing kit, model (you can draw it or print it directly from this site), piece of paper, needle and threade for embroidery , clean cherry seeds, linen seeds, dry lavanda flowers.

Steps are esy:
A) Print or draw the model in the size you need, my rabbit was 6 inches (without ears) and cut it. Choose the fabrics, I’ve used two green&white cottons: a striped one for the body and a floral one for the decoration and the inside of ears.
Copy the pattern on the fabric. You will need 2 body parts, 4 ears (2 external and 2 internal) and the decoration (in this case a heart). Cut them all.

B) Try the decoration on the ‘right’ side of the body, once you have found a good position sew it in place. I’ve used a zig-zag stich but you can make it without using a sewing machine if you prefer.
You can decide to make nose and eyes at this point or wait until the rabbit is ‘full’.

C) Sew the ears: take the two peces (one stripe and one floreal) put them right side to right side and sew leaving an open at the bottom so you can reverse the ear. If you want to fill them this is the time! I’ve choosed to add just some lavander flowers so they are soft but not empty.

D) Now take the side of the body without decoration, take the right side of the fabric and place the ears on it. Back side to back side, in my case striped side to striped side. Pin them in place leaving the open side of the ears just over the fabric in this way you will fix them with just a sew.

E) Now take the decorating part of the rabbit and put it over the back. Right side to right side (like a sandwich with ears in it)  Pin it in place and saw all around leaving a hole to reverse. Reverse it.

How does it look like? Is it fine? Sewing line are strong?

If not dis-make some of the sewing line and do them again. Once happy with your work start to fill it.

F) Take a piece of paper and use it like a funnel to fill your rabbit. Start with cherry seeds than add linen seeds finishing with lavander flowers. Once done close the hole with small stiches.

Look at your work, small it, and feel proud!

Avevo detto che volevo provare a realizzare uno degli animaletti di cui vi ho parlato.. Non ho resistito molto 🙂

La scusa è stata la bellissima notizia dell’arrivo del secondo bimbo di una mia carissima amica. Quale occasione migliore?!

Tempo fa ho fatto alcuni cuscini con i semi di ciliegia, ho pensato di utilizzare la stessa tecnica anche qui. I semi (ho provato con la ciliegia ed il lino, anche abbinati) mantengono la temperatura, si possono scaldare o raffreddare e usare per piccole contusioni, stiramenti, dolori muscolari, o anche solo come ‘scaldino in inverno’. Questa volta oltre ai semi ho aggiunto della lavanda essiccata, il profumo aiuta il rilassamento ed il sonno.

Cosa vi serve:
Stoffa (io ho optato per il cotone in due fantasie differenti), Kit da cucito, cartamodello (potete scaricarlo da questo sito), un foglio di carta, ago e filo da ricamo, semi di ciliegia puliti, fiori di lavanda essiccati.

Il procedimento è particolarmente semplice:
A) Stampate o copiate il cartamodello nella dimensione desiderata, il mio coniglio misurava circa 15 cm (orecchie escluse). Ritagliatelo.
Scegliete la stoffa che preferite, io ho scelto un cotone rigato per il corpo e una fantasia floreale per la decorazione frontale e l’interno delle orecchie. Tutto sui toni del verde e del bianco.
Riportate sulla stoffa il cartamodello. Avrete bisogno di 2 volte il corpo e 4 volte l’orecchia (2 esterne e 2 interne) oltre alla decorazione frontale (in questo caso un cuore).
Ritagliate.

B) Centrate la decorazione sul fronte del vostro coniglio, lasciando abbastanza spazio per ricamare occhi e naso, e cucitela (io ho fatto uno zig-zag molto fitto, ma potete cucirla anche a mano)
Potete scegliere di ricamare subito anche occhi e naso oppure aspettare per vedere dove posizionarli una volta riempito.

C) Cucite le orecchie: appoggiate l’interno e l’esterno fronte su fronte e cucite lungo il bordo (lasciando un margine di sicurezza alla cucitura) lasciate aperto il fondo in modo da poter rivoltare l’orecchia. Se volete riempire le orecchie fatelo ora, io ho messo solo un po’ di fiori per lasciarle morbide ma consistenti.

D) Prendete ora il retro del coniglio (il fronte della stoffa, il lato che volete rimanga visibile una volta finito il lavoro), posizionatevi sopra le orecchie. Dovrete appoggiare sulla stoffa l’esterno delle orecchie (nel mio caso la parte a strisce). Lasciate il lato aperto delle orecchie leggermente più esterno della stoffa (in modo che una volta cucito rimanga ben saldo).

E) Prendete ora il fronte del coniglio e posizionatelo sopra al retro (fronte stoffa su fronte stoffa) praticamente un panino con le orecchie nel mezzo.
Cucite tutto attorno lasciando un margine di sicurezza di circa 0,5cm e un’apertura per poter rigirare il lavoro. Rigirate.
Tutto bene? In vostro coniglio è come ve lo aspettavate? Le orecchie sono attaccate bene? Se così non fosse non vi resta che ‘disfare e ricucire’.

F) Prendete ora un foglio di carta, arrotolatelo ed usandolo come imbuto inserite all’interno del coniglio i semi di ciliegia e la lavanda.
Quando avrete raggiunto la consistenza desiderata chiudete l’apertura con punti fitti.

Osservate la vostra opera con malcelato orgoglio 🙂
