When we got married my aunt told me about the first years of her marriage and how nice it was to build a house even if, for the first few years, the furniture in the living room were painted wooden fruit boxes. So let’s say that I dedicate this post to her and to those memories she wanted to share.

The box I used for this project was a gift so it was more beautiful than a classic fruit box as it was painted and embellished with two wooden decorations. I just paint it with this white enamel (if you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m in my ‘white period’ 🙂 ).

I find it beautiful !!

The lamp, on the other hand, was an old rice paper lamp with an iron structure. The shape was beautiful, the paper had become dirty and ruined over the years. So I removed the bulb, bulb holder and cable. I soaked the structure in soapy water overnight and cleaned the excess paper from the structure the next day. Once the structure was dry we decided to cover it with wire. I reassembled the cable and the lamp holder than replaced the light bulb with a new LED lamp.

Bedside table and night light done! We can accommodate for the night in the attic 🙂

p.s. I know I haven’t wrote about the attic yet, this is becuse it was a long recovery work not yet finished, because it is the room on which we invested the most in terms of energy, time and ideas, because we love it deeply and would like to dedicate time to it in its post version too. But now it’s time, I’m working on it, I gave myself a deadline, December 28th! Stay Tuned!

Comodino e lampada per la mansarda

Quando ci siamo sposati mia zia, ricordando gli anni del suo matrimonio, mi raccontò di come era stato bello, sposarsi e costruire una casa anche se per i primi anni i mobili della sala erano state delle cassette della frutta di legno pitturate perché fossero più allegre. Diciamo quindi che questo post lo dedico a lei e a quei ricordi che ha voluto condividere.

La cassetta in questo caso è stata un regalo, era già più bella di una classica cassetta della frutta perché colorata e addolcita da due decorazioni in legno. Io l’ho solo uniformata dandole due mani di smalto bianco (se mi seguite da un po’ sapete che sono nel mio ‘periodo bianco’ 🙂 ).

La trovo bellissima!!

La lampada invece era una vecchia lampada in carta di riso con struttura in ferro. La forma era bella, la carta con gli anni si era sporcata e rovinata. Ho quindi tolto lampadina, porta lampadina e cavo. Ho messo la struttura a bagno in acqua e sapone per una notte e il giorno successivo ho ripulito la struttura dalla carta in eccesso. Una volta asciugata la struttura abbiamo deciso di ricoprirla con del fil di ferro. Rimontato filo e porta lampada e sostituita la lampadina con una nuova a LED la lampada era pronta.

Insomma, comodino e luce da notte fatte! Possiamo ospitare per la notte anche in mansarda 🙂

p.s. lo so della mansarda non ho ancora parlato, perché è stato un lungo lavoro di recupero non ancora terminato, perché è la stanza su sui abbiamo investito di più in termini di energie, tempo e idee, perché l’amiamo profondamente e vorrei dedicarle tempo anche nella sua versione post. Ma ormai è tempo, ci sto lavorando, mi sono data un termine ultimo il 28 dicembre! Stay Tuned!
