Our love for antique markets is immeasurable. We like so much looking around observing people describe their treasures to possible purchasers or try to imagine the uses of things we have never seen before. We are fond of smells and sounds of past times. We don’t know why but sometimes we simply need to adopt old stuff 🙂

During the last years we have seen a lot of markets, Italian but not only, found places we felt in love with and others we promised to never come back.

We appreciate organization and tidiness, lovely stuff and good prices. One of the antique market we love more is in Nizza Monferrato and it takes place the third Sunday of each month. Loving place, nice road to reach it, great organization, we always found something to buy for a right price and, if all this is not enough, the Pro Loco team serves fresh farinata, a sort of focaccia but with chickpeas flour, all day long! What do you need more?Last month we returned to the market after a year and we found it more beautiful than ever. The day was perfect, sunny, warm, great people and amazing farinata (also the wine wasn’t bad 🙂 ). At the end of the day, during the last walk through the stalls we saw it: an amazing icebox. Now, we know that it will look amazing after we will remove all the paint and fix some small things ❤ I will keep you update 😉

We also found two green wood military boxes, strong and useful with lateral handles. One is soon become our personal interpretation of a ‘pouf’. I’ve made a pillow and fix it in place thanks to some holes on the top of the box. It is great for the sofa, we cannot watch a TV serie without 🙂

Il nostro amore per i mercatini dell’antiquariato è smisurato. Ci piace vagare assaporando il profumo delle vecchie soffitte o delle cantine, guardare chi vende descrivere i propri tesori e osservare chi acquista avvicinarsi con timore agli oggetti più strani. Ci piace raccogliere oggetti travisati e trasformati nel tempo per farli tornare a quello che erano o adattarli al meglio a quello che siamo.

Negli anni abbiamo visto mercati italiani e stranieri, mercati belli e mercati insignificanti ripromettendoci di tornare o giurando di non farlo mai più. Insomma abbiamo i nostri standard. Ci piace scoprire posti nuovi ma amiamo tornare in quelli dove siamo sempre stati trattati bene!

Uno dei mercati cui siamo più affezionati è sicuramente quello di Nizza Monferrato. Bello il posto, bella la strada per arrivare, ottima l’organizzazione, spettacolare la Pro Loco che sforna farinata calda per tutto il giorno, carino passeggiare per il piccolo centro prima o dopo il mercato. Bella la gente, belli gli espositori, belli anche i prezzi, almeno a volte 🙂Il mese scorso siamo tornati al mercatino di Nizza Monferrato dopo quasi un anno di assenza e l’abbiamo ritrovato più bello che mai. Giornata stupenda, farinata ottima (anche il vino non era male 🙂 )e.. ovviamente.. acquisti! Siamo tornati carichi di una ghiacciaia dall’età ancora non ben definita. Sicuri che verrà bellissima una volta ripulita dagli innumerevoli strati di vernice che la ricoprono. ❤  Vi farò sapere e vedere!

Abbiamo anche scovato due casse militari di legno in ottimo stato, robuste e pratiche grazie alle maniglie laterali. Una è diventata da poco la nostra personale interpretazione del pouf da divano.
E’ bastato cucire un cuscino su misura e fissarlo alla cassa attraverso dei fori sul coperchio. Ora ci fa compagnia nelle nostre ore di relax davanti alla TV 🙂
