Now, in my case it is fake gold leaf, not the one used for the old signs and decorations which was made by real gold.. (If you want to see some examples, search for @lilloletters on social media)

Even if I’m still discovering how to use it and how much potential there is in this type of decoration. I wanted to share this transformation! From sad plastic “tiger” rabbits to wonderful (please pass me the enthusiasm) ornaments or, considering the timing, centerpieces for Easter lunch table.

They look so cute to me! Plus I’m always happy when I can transform something instead of throwing it away.

Before covering them with “gold” I gave them a base of white, I wanted a plane background but perhaps it wasn’t necessary… In some ponts, I won’t deny it, I had to use the glue several times. I tried to cover every side and every facet well but it’s not easy especially on the small details.

A piece of advice, if it is useful to you, check how the individual sheets are packaged. And evaluate what to take also based on what you have to work on.

I used two different types of sheets. The first ones were contained in two sheets of paper, one above and one below (this was part of a starter kit on Amazon). This package, which initially seemed exaggerated to me, turned out to be very convenient for cutting the various sheets and creating smaller pieces (more practical for me given the size and details of the rabbits). The second block of sheets purchased (wrongly… I thought they were the same as the first) was larger and with only one sheet of paper for each gold sheet. This made impossible to cut them..

Apart from this, and the glue application times which need to be tested (if the glue is too much or too liquid the sheets won’t stick, if you wait too long the glue dries out and the sheets don’t stick..) I had a lot of fun! !

Now, without exaggerating because I imagine that they have an environmental impact as everithing, I am looking for ideas for a new, golden project… Who knows, maybe a writing or a drawing for the shop window?!

Qualche mese fa avevo iniziato a parlarvi di questa nuova “passione” la decorazione con la foglia d’oro. Ora, nel mio caso è foglia d’oro finta non quella usata per le vecchie insegne e decorazioni che era in vero oro.. ( Se volete vedere qualche esempio cercate @lilloletters sui social)

Premesso che sto ancora scoprendo come si usa e quanto potenziale c’è in questo tipo di decorazione. Volevo condividere questa trasformazione!

Da tristi Conigli in plastica di “tiger” a stupende (passatemi l’entusiasmo) decorazioni da vetrina o, visto il periodo, centrotavola per il pranzo di Pasqua.

A me sembrano carinissimi! In più sono sempre felice quando riesco a trasformare qualcosa anziché buttarla via.

Prima di rivestirli ho dato una base di bianco, volevo che ci fosse un fondo uniforme ma forse non era necessario.. In alcuni punti, non vi nascondo, sono dovuta intervenire più volte. Ho cercato di coprire bene ogni lato ed ogni sfaccettatura ma non è semplicissimo soprattutto sui dettagli nascosti.

Un consiglio, se vi può essere utile, verificate come sono impacchettati i singoli fogli. E valutate cosa prendere anche in funzione di cosa dovete fare.

Io ho usato due tipologie diverse di fogli. I primi erano contenuti in due fogli di carta, uno sopra e uno sotto, questa confezione, che inizialmente mi sembrava esagerata, si è rivelata comodissima per tagliare i vari fogli e creare pezzi più piccoli (per me più pratici visto la misura e i dettagli delle statuine). Il secondo blocco di fogli acquistato (sbagliando.. pensavo fossero uguali ai primi) era più grande e con un solo foglio di carta per ogni foglio d’oro. Praticamente impossibile tagliarli..

A parte questo, ed i tempi di posa della colla che vanno studiati (se la colla è troppa o troppo liquida i fogli non aderiscono, se si aspetta troppo tempo la colla si secca ed i fogli non aderiscono..) mi sono divertita moltissimo!!

Ora, sempre senza esagerare perché immagino che anche loro abbiano un discreto impatto ambientale, cerco spunti per un nuovo, dorato progetto… Chissà magari una scritta o un disegno per la vetrina del negozio?!
