While accepting the fact that walnut will no longer accompany us through the seasons, we did not want to deprive ourselves of its presence. It is still a magnificent plant, surrounded by life, great tits, sparrows, blackbirds, thrushes, robins, a few weeks ago we even saw a woodpecker wandering among the branches. In short, tearing it down was not an option.

We spoke to Franco, our gardener friend, and asked him to evaluate the state of the walnut tree and tell us what we could do to make it safe. A few days ago Franco came by and reduced the branches to ensure that even in case of strong winds they do not “sail” compromising the stability of the plant.

Noce will remain with us as long as possible, continuing to give shelter to the animals who want to choose it, we have started to let the wisteria run along its trunk and imagine what it will be like tomorrow in an embrace of flowers.

Sono passati quasi 2 mesi da quando abbiamo dovuto accettare la morte del nostro stupendo noce e abbiamo accolto Slash il salice (anche detto salesh in dialetto) nel nostro giardino.

Pur accettando il fatto che noce non ci accompagnerà più attraverso le stagioni non volevamo privarci della sua presenza. È ancora una pianta magnifica, circondata dalla vita, cince, passeri, merli, tordi, pettirossi, qualche settimana fa abbiamo visto persino un picchio gironzolare tra i rami. Insomma, abbatterlo non era un opzione..

Abbiamo parlato con Franco il nostro amico giardiniere e gli abbiamo chiesto di valutare lo stato del noce e dirci cosa potevamo fare per metterlo in sicurezza. Alcuni giorni fa Franco è passato e ha ridotto i rami per far si che anche in caso di vento forte non facciano “vela” rischiando di compromettere la stabilità della pianta.

Noce resterà con noi finché sarà possibile, continuando a dare riparo agli animali che lo vorranno scegliere, abbiamo iniziato a far correre il glicine sul suo fusto e ad immaginare come sarà un domani in un abbraccio di fiori.
